Job Title: Project Manager - Special Purpose Machinery
Location: Surrey
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000
Employment Type: Permanent
Working Arrangements: Onsite
About the Opportunity
Verso is supporting a long‑standing engineering and manufacturing client who is looking to hire a Project Manager due to increased demand and growing project complexity. As their new Project Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the project lifecycle - from order receipt through to installation and commissioning of special‑purpose machinery.
You’ll act as the central point of coordination between customers, internal engineering/manufacturing teams, and external subcontractors. If you have an engineering or manufacturing background and enjoy hands‑on project delivery, this Project Manager position offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities for the Project Manager - Special Purpose Machinery

  • Manage the full lifecycle of customer projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Review customer orders and create project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Lead project kick‑off meetings and maintain regular communication with customers.
  • Coordinate internal teams across engineering, design, manufacturing, procurement, and quality.
  • Track progress, identify risks, and keep projects on schedule.
  • Organise logistics and shipping of machinery.
  • Manage local subcontractors during installation and commissioning.
  • Monitor project finances, variations, and margins throughout delivery.
  • Ensure documentation, testing, and compliance requirements are completed before release.

What We’re Looking For

  • Engineering or manufacturing background — ideally within special‑purpose machinery, hydraulics, automation, or mechanical systems.
  • Experience managing technical projects from concept through to installation.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence leading customer interactions.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external subcontractors.
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple moving parts.

Overall, you’ll play a key role in improving customer satisfaction, internal efficiency, and overall project performance.
