The two figures are two different samples of adverts. The every-sector figure includes adverts placed in no sector; the sector figure counts only adverts placed in IT & Digital.

Advertised, not paid: these are the salaries employers stated in live job adverts. They are not a survey of what people are paid, and this site neither sets nor guarantees any rate.

How the sector figure is worked out

An advert counts towards IT & Digital when its title, its employer or its category places it there and it is classified as Programme Manager. An advert that names no sector counts towards the every-sector figure only: a wrong sector would put its pay in the wrong comparison.

Adverts that state no pay (competitive, negotiable, depending on experience) are counted in the total and left out of every figure, which is why the share stating pay is printed beside the sample.

Nothing is estimated. Below 5 adverts stating pay this site publishes no figure and says how many it has. The full method.
